The 20 year old beat the 32 year old David Avila, a South paw in the Quarter finals by a 3-2 decision.
His win guarantees an Olympic medal for a Ghanaian athlete in 29 years.

The featherweight boxer receives a boxing medal for Ghana after Prince Amartey last did it in 1972.
He will face American Duke Ragan in the Semi-finals on Tuesday, 3rd August at 2:30 AM (gmt).
He will fight in the semis for a chance to get gold. All boxers in the semi-finals automatically get a bronze medal.
