Highlife icon Kwadwo Akwaboah passes away

Kwadwo Akwaboah, a highlife artist from Ghana, passed away. His son Gladstorm Akwaboah, who is also a musician and goes by the name Akwaboah in modern Ghanaian music, announced his father’s passing. He died at Kumasi’s Okomfo Anokye Teaching Hospital in the wee hours of May 16, 2023, according to Oktranking sources. Akwaboah uploaded a picture of his father to WhatsApp along with the message, “Thank you for being ma Daddy, rest well.” Some of Kwadwo Akwaboah’s popular songs are ‘Awerekyekyere’, ‘Hini Me’, among others.

Watch Video-Black Sherif Receives Two Brand New Cars as a Gift from His Management  

After being named the Vodafone Ghana Music Awards 2023 Artiste of the Year, Joseph Aidoo Jr, CEO of Brasa Grill Restaurant and creator of A-List Management, presented rapper Black Sherif with two luxury cars. Mr Aidoo Jr stated that the cars were given to him as a reward for his hard work. After getting behind the wheel of the new Benz, the Ghanaian musician promised to give his opinions on the surprise. Blacko continued by thanking them for their support and pledging to do his best to keep their standards.The videos from the surprising presentation are included here. The budding talent took home four prizes at last week’s gala, including the renowned Artiste of the Year honor. The precocious youngster is set to make his New York City debut on May 20, 2023.

I’ll be there – Black Sherif on collaborating with Piesie Esther

Black Sherif, a musician, says he is willing to collaborate with Piesie Esther on a Gospel song if the occasion arises. He indicated on Hitz FM’s Daybreak Hitz that he already has a lot of Gospel songs in his portfolio and is open to doing more. “I do gospel songs already,” stated the 2023 Vodafone Ghana Music Awards (VGMA) Artiste of the Year.”Both ‘Oil In My Head’ and ‘Soldier’ are Gospel songs.” “Most of the songs I do are Gospel but street Gospel,” he continues, “so we’re already in the gospel fraternity but street department.” This comes after Piesie Esther, a gospel musician, stated her wish that fellow singer Black Sherif will join the gospel music community. According to her, if the rap musician responds to her call, his vocal skills will go a long way in improving evangelism. “He has that kind of commanding voice.” I adore his tone of speaking. “I hope he will come and join me in Gospel someday,” she said. On the show, she expressed her appreciation for the 21-year-old and praised his efforts throughout the year.

I don’t have liver illness – KiDi

KiDi, a Lynx Entertainment signee, has stated that he does not have liver illness and that the lyrics of his latest single, I lied, are not about any health issues he is facing. His remark may put an end to the discussion regarding his allegedly deteriorating health in the last two months. KiDi told Sika Osei on Lynx TV’s Stripped show, in a video seen by Oktranking.com, that he has no liver condition. “I want to state unequivocally that I do not have a liver disease,” KiDi remarked. KiDi’s health became public in March, when it was claimed in various sectors of the media that the Enjoyment hitmaker was suffering from a stroke. KiDi went silent after posting on social media in February that he had cancelled his impending US tour due to a health concern, giving the reports some credence. His management issued a statement dismissing the reports and stating that KiDi was not suffering from stroke. In a Facebook post on Friday, April 14, the 2022 VGMA Artiste of the Year claimed that he just took a hiatus from the music scene to focus on his health, vehemently refuting allegations of a stroke. “A little less than two months ago, I made the difficult decision to cancel my tour in order to take care of my health, which included taking time away from social media.” However, the musician later fuelled further concern about his health when he released lyrics from his current song, I Lied, implying that he was suffering from liver cancer. “You go take me to prayer if I show you my liver.” Don’t wait till I’m under 6 feet; I’m out…”

And The Winners Are… Vodafone Ghana Music Awards 2023 #VGMA24

The Vodafone Ghana Music Awards 2023, the largest night in music on the Ghanaian entertainment calendar, took place last night, May 6 2023, at the Accra International Conference Centre, with all the top wigs in Ghana’s music industry assembled to be honoured for their artistic efforts. Piesie Esther kicked off the evening with a performance. Kidi, DSL, Epixode, Lasmid, Black Sherif, King Promise, Kwabena Kwabena, Medikal, Sarkodie, and Pheelz performed afterwards. Berla Mundi and Naa Ashokor, the night’s MCs, melded in well with James Gardner. The three kept the show moving at a steady pace.
