The FIFA world cup is a Tournament Played every four years.This will be the first world cup ever to be held in the ‘Arab World’ And For the first time in the history of the World Cup, it will be staged from November to December instead of June – July.
32 countries will participate in the FIFA world cup in Qatar and as a football fanatic, this year’s Global soccer spectacle will be unlike any other.
Brazil is the most successful national team in the FIFA World Cup having won it five times: 1958, 1962, 1970, 1994 and 2002. The Seleção also has the best overall performance in the World Cup competition, both in proportional and absolute terms, with a record of 73 victories in 109 matches played, 124 goal difference, 237 points, and 18 losses. Brazil has got quality talents for this year’s mundial with players like Neymar Dos Santos Jnr,Gabriel Jesus and Vinicius Jnr. We all know what they are capable of.
In 2014 they(Brazil) were the favorites to win the world cup in …. but were defeated by the Germans in the semi final stage by 7 goals to 1. We should expect crazy and interesting football from them in this year’s competition
•Argentina; winning the title twice in 1978 and 1986 has been unlucky in the finals three times ; in 1930,1990 and also in 2014. The question I would pose as a football fanatic is Can Argentina win the world cup this year?” Absolutely Yes. And they can with or without Messi. Messi aside ,Argentina can boast of great players like Paulo Dybala, Angel Di Maria, Papu Gómez, Nicolás Otamendi and the likes others. Football is a team sport and if you have quality players you can win trophies ‘with no much stress’. With my take,Argentina is one of the favorite teams to win the World Cup
•France
France won its first World Cup title in 1998. The tournament was played on home soil and they defeated Brazil by 3 goals to nil in the final match. The tournament was hosted in France once before in 1938, where France was eliminated by defending champions Italy in the quarter-finals. In 2018, France won the World Cup for the second time, defeating Croatia by 4 goals to 2 in the final at the Luzhniki Stadium in Russia. The current defending champions will have the best squad going into this year’s competition. In 2018 the players performed extremely well especially the likes Paul Pogba And Kylian Mbappe who was 19years old then,when he represented his national team. Mbappe sprinting along the wings during the 2018 world cup OMG! How I miss that tournament !!!~2018 World cup Expect nothing but quality performance from them in this year’s Tournament.
Africa is been represented by 5 countries and going into this year’s world cup, the likes of Senegal and Ghana will definitely perform well.
Someone will ask why Ghana?
Ghana have qualified for four FIFA World Cup tournaments; in 2006, 2010, 2014 and also in this year’s.
I believe they can do well this time round. Statistics shows that the black stars have 0.02% chance of winning it the tournament and performing well in this year’s world cup but, like every sport is full of the unthinkable, the black star can properly shine. The West Nation boasts of young and skillful players like kudus Mohammed,Kamal Deen,Afena Gyan. to name a few, who have experienced European football, playing for Ajax , Roma and Rennes.
Senegal on the other hand have appeared in the finals of the FIFA World Cup on two occasions, in 2002 where they reached the quarter finals, and in 2018. They are the first team in World Cup history to be eliminated using the fair play rule after being tied with Japan on the first six tiebreakers.
Going into this year’s tournament,Can Senegal become the first African side to reach the quarterfinals twice?
The Reigning African champions currently ranked . 20th in the world, are the best placed of Africa’s five teams to progress.So football fanatics should expect Great football from them.
No one should underrate any team going into the world cup we all saw what Costa Rica did to England in the 2014 world cup.
