Statistics suggest 30% to 70% of women in their reproductive age experience fibroids knowingly or unknowingly.
Luckily, Ghanaian singer and performer Adina Thembi is one who knew of her situation and walked a path to have them removed but after 7 years.
“I think I’ve had it since 2014. I say this because I used to do some modelling and realized I had a little bit of a bulge in my lower abdomen during a particular shoot. I thought I just had to go to the gym and get my body right.”
In a new video documentary, Adina walks her fans through the journey to having the 16 fibroids removed. She also announced a new charity foundation “BEAUTIFUL INSIDE.”
According to Adina, the foundation’s first project aims at creating awareness on fibroids and helping other women deal with it the best ways available.
Adina first made mention of undergoing a fibroid removal surgery via a video on March 4, 2021.
She has since been back to work and won several awards including 3Music Awards.
Adina won 3 awards at the just 21st edition of the Vodafone Ghana Music Awards. The awards included Album of The Year with Araba, Record of The Year (Daddy’s Little Girl) and Best Reggae/Dancehall Song of The Year (Why)
