Award-winning Ghanaian rapper, Michael Owusu Addo, popularly known as Sarkodie, has revealed that he is set to release an album titled ‘JAMZ’ which will be released on Friday, 11 November 2022.
The album will become the rapper’s 7th studio album and 8th in total when his live album ‘Mary’ is added.
Sarkodie’s last album was released in 2021 when he dropped his ‘No Pressure ’ project in July that year.
His other albums are ‘Highest’ (2017) ‘Sarkology’ (2014) ‘Rapperholic’ (2012) and ‘Maakye’ his first, released in 2009.
His contributions to the Ghanaian music industry have earned him numerous accolades, including the Vodafone Ghana Music Award for ‘Artiste of the Decade’.
He was announced the first winner of BET’s Best International Flow artiste at the 2019 BET Hip Hop Awards.
He is also considered one of the major proponents of the Azonto genre and dance, and one of the most successful African rappers of all time.
On his social media platforms including YouTube, he announced the album released through a video. He said;
“As far back as I can remember, I always wanted to rap, I fell in love with it as a youth. Growing up in Tema gave me a lot to talk about, I always had an idea of the kind of career that I wanted.
So I had to stay true to myself, my second album “Rapperholic” is already 10 years and I’m on my 8th Studio album, Still doing it my way.
It takes a lot to stay motivated but you can’t be in a rush to skip the process because you will still have to deal with everything that comes with it”.
He further revealed the name of the new album in the video.
“This new project is called “JAMZ”, basically how I feel. This collection of songs is like your favourite playlist, now let’s have fun”, he said.
JAMZ is going to be his first project in 2022.
This announcement has set social media ablaze as fans can’t wait for the new album to be released.
