MR DREW DIDN’T HAVE TOTAL KNOWLEDGE ON WHAT HE WAS DOING. HE HAS GIVEN ME MY PERCENTAGE NOW – KUAME EUGENE

Ghanaian Highlife Musician, Kuame Eugene has given some finality to the split sheet issue between himself and his colleague Mr Drew.

Responding to a question posed to him by seasoned entertainment pundit Edem-Mensah Tsotorme on DaybreakHitz, he revealed that Mr Drew has given him his share of the revenue made out of the hit song in “Case” which he co-wrote.

The multi talented singer cited his colleagues’ limited knowledge on the business side of music to be the cause of the discord that existed between them before arriving here.

“I think what happened between Mr Drew and myself will probably be maybe his situation with his label at that moment and he not having a total knowledge over what he was doing. He didn’t know that if you put music out there without the one that wrote it consent, it is illegal. So I won’t blame him. He’s a brother. I’m glad he learned and he’s hit me up for my details and given me my percentage”. The songwriter averred

According to the “Open Gate” crooner, everything he ever said prior to receiving what was due him as a co-writer of “Case” was to draw Mr Drew’s attention to his overlooked contribution to the song.

“I didn’t want to come out in the first place to talk about writing for Mr Drew and him not giving me what is needed. But I think if someone owes you and you’ve been trying to reach the person and he’s not minding you, you find someone to tell him to do something about it. He made known to the pundit.

The multiple award winning artist added that, even though there was a possibility of taking Mr Drew on legally for not seeking his consent before releasing the song, he didn’t want to go that extreme to complicate things for a brother as he expected him to know better and do the needful.

“I own 50percent of the song and he just released without my idea and without the consent of his old label as well. So legally, we can both can take him on. But I didn’t want it to go that far. I just wanted to remind a brother, incase he has forgotten, to do the right thing. He read it and didn’t text back thinking I would move on which I didn’t”. He disclosed on the show.
