Dr Kwame Kyei, Asante Kotoko Board Chairman, has tendered in his resignation from the post, Starr Sports has gathered.
The Ashanti monarch, Otumfuo Osei Tutu, who is also the life patron of the club is yet to receive the resignation letter, sources close to the club have revealed.
According to sources, Dr Kwame Kyei communicated his decision to resign from the club to Otumfuo on Tuesday when Board members met the life patron at Manhyia in a meeting.
However, his decision to exit was not accepted by the King as he asked the Board members to deliberate on the matter and get back to him.
The Board members however could not make a decision immediately on Dr Kyei’s move and asked for more time to deliberate on whether to approve or reject his request.
Dr Kwame Kyei is said to have told Otumfuo that he had invested heavily in the club with no returns and did not have the support of the other Board members.
