Contemporary Ghanaian rapper, Nana Kwabena Appiah, famously known as Pure Akan has revealed what his sentiments are when it comes to how people treat his style of music.
In a recent interview on the “DaybreakHitz” show with Andy Dosty on Hitz Fm, the hiplife artist disclosed on the show, the pain accompanied with the limited recognition industry players give to his craft.
Akan, who is known for churning out traditional music, sounded hurt in narrating to the host what it feels like for people to be hypocritical about his unique craft without acknowledging what goes into putting it together.
“For me it’s a funny feeling because you meet people and they say all sort of nice things to you. But then when you reach out to them, they never reply. It’s really painful”. He said
According to him, music is his sole source of wealth. It’s the only way he generates income. Not been able to acquire any extra hustle for himself aside music, has made his craft the only avenue through which he’s able to put food on his table.
“I don’t do anything apart from music. Interestingly. I don’t have any side hustle. I have not started any side business yet and music has been what is keeping me going. I have never received any royalty from Ghamro”. He enunciated
