Dancehall artiste Charles Nii Armah Mensah known for his musicianship as Shatta Wale has expressed joy after being set free following his court trial today.
The musician pleaded guilty at the law court today for spreading false news of himself that he was shot which led to public fear and panic.
At an Accra circuit court, the musician who pleaded not guilty after the first trial changed his mind and pleaded guilty knowing the information that came out that he was shot was a hoax.
The Court presided over by His Worship Emmanuel Essandoh delivered a non-custodial sentence and fined the musician an amount of GH¢2,000.
If Shatta Wale fails to pay the fine, he will be liable to spend three months in jail.
The “On God” hitmaker took to his social media page to expressed his gratitude after being set free. He wrote;
“Free at Last, being thankful and expressing gratitude is an important part of being happy in life. I wish to take this opportunity to say than you to my lawyer, Jerry, the Judge, Shatta Movement and the entire nation for the support through these trying times”.
