Former Asante Kotoko captain, Joe Hendricks has rubbished the comparison of current GPL top scorer, Franck Mbella to Hearts of Oak legend Ishmael Addo stating he hasn’t reached his level yet.
Addo, is regarded as one of the greatest goal scorers in the Ghanaian game, having won the goalking on three occasions and set up a record of winning with the most goals (22) in a single season.
However, Cameroonian import Franck Mbella since joining Kotoko prior to the start of the ongoing season, has netted 21 goals so far and could equal or surpass the 22 goal mark with two more matches to go.
His incredible performance has seen lots of Kotoko fans comparing him to the great Ishmael Addo and believe he will make a new record with regards to the goalking in the Ghana Premier League. Speaking to Angel FM in Accra, the former Kotoko skipper has admitted the Cameroonian has had a great season but added no one should compare him to Ishmael Addo who consistently showed his quality and prowess for six straight years. He said;
“Mbella is a good striker but he is yet to meet quality defenders on the continent. It’s too early to compare him to Ishmael Addo who was consistent for Hearts of Oak for more than six seasons.”
