BREAKING: Hearts of Oak banned by GFA for breaching Covid-19 protocols

Hearts of Oak shall play their next home games behind closed doors for breach of the Ghana Football Association’s Approved Match-day Covid-19 Protocols, FMIG can confirm.

The breach occurred during Hearts of Oak’s home clash with Great Olympics during Match Week 11 of the Ghana Premier League on Saturday.

According to a statement issued by the GFA and signed by its General Secretary, Prosper Harrison Addo, Hearts failed to ensure the strict adherence of the approved Ghana FA Covid-19 MatchDay Protocols before and during the game.

The GFA without reservation has condemned the happenings at the Accra Sports Stadium and immediately referred the matter to the Disciplinary Committee for the necessary adjudication.

However, the football governing body has also taken steps to ban Hearts of Oak from admitting fans to their home games until the case is fully adjudicated.

As a result of the ban, only 10 management members each of both home and away teams as well as 10 media persons will be allowed entry during Hearts of Oak home matches.
