Ghana legend, Asamoah Gyan believes he was part of the top ten footballers in the world in 2010, following his stellar display for both club and country.
The 36 year old showcased his worth to the entire world in South Africa, having netted three goals at the World Cup to send the Black Stars to the quarter final for the first time- becoming the third African nation to reach that stage after Cameroon and Senegal.
His first goal was against Serbia in Ghana’s opening group game, scored also against Australia and the USA in round of 16- an incredible world-class display that earned him the BBC African footballer of the year accolade.
Speaking to FIFA, the ex- Sunderland and Al Ain forward boasted that, he was in the form of his life and strongly believes he was one of the best three footballers in the world. He said;
“I was one of the top 3 best players in the world at that time. I was on too of the world, I was confident.”
Asamoah Gyan still hasn’t officially retired from the game and is still Ghana’s all time top scorer with 51 goals in 109 appearances.
